B.N. Manjunatha Reddy started his political career through NSUI since 1981 and has contributed to the progress of Bangalore and the Congress Party for almost 40 years. He has been elected as a corporator three times and have served as the *Mayor of Bangalore * in 2015-2016.

Achievements
During his tenure as the Mayor of the Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation, he implemented an innovative program called 'Mahapauraru in the Zonal Office' for tax collection and brought 16 lakh 98 thousand properties under the jurisdiction of the Corporation.
For the first time in the history of the Corporation, the online system was adopted for the property tax collection.

Kempegowda Museum, Mayohall and, Johnson Market, which were mortgaged during the BJP regime, were taken back to the Corporation in 2015-16 when he was the Mayor with the cooperation of the then Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah, Ministers Shri KJ George and Shri Ramalinga Reddy.
Madilu program was successfully implemented under BBMP with the objective of bringing pregnant women below poverty line to government hospitals for safe delivery and thereby reducing maternal and child mortality.
In the interest of preservation of corporation properties, steps were taken to give PID numbers to corporation properties and add 'Corporation land' on the internet along with photographs of the properties.
More than 900 bank accounts were canceled and limited to 20-30 bank accounts in the interest of transparent governance of the Corporation.
For the first time in the history of the corporation, the outstanding bills of Rs 2213 crore were paid to the contractors through RTGS by adopting the online system.
In the Madiwala Ward, many useful projects including Hi-Tech Dialysis Hospital, Maternity Hospital, Garadi Mane, Concrete Rajkaluve, Construction of Community Halls, Development of Government School, Park and Temples for all-round development of Madiwala were done with the cooperation of MLA Shri. Ramalinga Reddy.
